<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Zehn Tage Falklands liegen hinter uns, hinter den meisten jedenfalls.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Eine Vorgeschichte, die etwas länger ausfiel, als erwartet. Die Selma, unser Schiff, konnte in Brasilien, wo sie auf der Werft auf die nun startende Saison vorbereitet wurde, erst später ausklarieren und aufbrechen als geplant.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Erst gestern lief sie hier nach zehn Segeltagen in Stanley ein. Wie auch die letzten Crew-Mitglieder, so dass wir als Team nun vollständig sind.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Und so hatten wir mehr als genug Zeit, die Gegend rund um Stanley zu erkunden. Und bis auf die letzten zwei Tage großes Wetterglück.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In mal dieser, mal jener Zusammensetzung, zu mehreren oder allein waren wir unterwegs: bei den Pinguinen in Gypsie Cove und Yorke Bay, am Lighthouse von Cape Pembroke, wo sich im Tussock Gras so manche Pelzrobbe versteckt, spazieren an den weiten Stränden oder wandern auf die umliegenden Berge.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Einige machten sich auf zu einer Off-road Tour zu den Königspinguinen von Volunteers Point.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Karen, Unda und ich verbrachten zwei Tage auf Saunders Island, einer Insel im Westen, total abgelegen und allein in einer kleinen Hütte, umgeben von grandioser Naturkulisse und sonst nur von den zahlreichen eigentlichen Bewohnern dieses Eilands: große Brut-Kolonien von Schwarzbrauenalbatrossen und Kormoranen, Königs-, Esels- und Magellanpinguinen, zahlreichen Gänsen, Enten und weiteren Seevögeln. Im Wasser jagende Robben und Gruppen von Commersons und Peales Delfinen, die in den Brandungswellen surften, und uns beim kurzen Bad im sehr kalten Wasser neugierig umrundeten. Und am westlichsten Zipfel der Insel, circa drei Stunden Fußmarsch entfernt, ließen sich am Elephant Point zwei kleine Gruppen Seeelefanten mit gerade geborenem Nachwuchs beobachten. Am letzten Morgen verabschiedete uns noch ein Southern Right Wal (Südkaper), der in der Bucht direkt vor der Hütte offenbar zeitgleich mit uns frühstückte.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Doch nun freuen wir uns alle darauf, den Falklands zunächst den Rücken zu kehren und bald unser eigentliches Ziel Südgeorgien ansteuern zu können.</p>
